Day 15
My class toured the Post Tower DHL Building in Bonn, designed by Helmut Jahn. It is a 41 story building, with a double glass wall that a allows for optimal air ventilation. This building overlooks the Rhine River and City of Bonn.
Day 16
Our Bike Tour along the Rhine River started near AIB, to the south of Bonn, and towards the ARP Museum. We biked 12 kilometers to the museum, and 12 kilometers back to the city in 95 degree weather. Although a challenge it has been one of my favorite excursions. We got a workout and a beautiful view of the Rhine River.
Day 17
House of History Museum of Bonn, showcases the history of Germany Post WWII. It has a collection of about one million items including two pieces of the Berlin wall. After our tour, my class refreshed by a pool in Bad Godesburg.
Day 18
Landschaftspark Nord and the Mining area Zeche Zollverein were a bit of a torture. It was 100 degrees outside and we were walking around the park. Landschaftspark Nord was a blast furnance facility for smelting iron, it is now a walkable museum with gardens, playgrounds and streams of water. Zeche Zollverein is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001. This region was a coal mining region since 1779.
